Market Talk! S Oregon Real Estate for July 5
I hope you had a wonderful Fourth of July Holiday! Today, it’s back to work as we have just entered the Summer Selling Season. In the yearly housing cycle shown below, we are at the top of the selling and buying season right now.
What do you think? Are we at the top of the season in S. Oregon right now? Take a look at last week’s SOMLS stats and you’ll see quite an upsurge in new listings and pending sales in both counties. Those totals are the highest I have can ever remember for a single week.
Oregon’s Legislature has adjourned and with a slew of new laws that affect Real Estate. For example, join Alice Lema, Joe Brett and me along with Medford Planning Director Matt Brinkley for a discussion about HB 2001, changing the way neighborhoods can be developed by dropping exclusionary zoning on single-family lots. Don’t miss this show which airs on radio Saturday, July 5, at 10 am KCMX AM 880.

Have we all gone Hemp Happy? We’re about to find out this coming week when Simon Hare, former Josephine County Commissioner, and current Hemp grower joins us to explain the Hemp Craze. Is seems all of Jackson and Josephine counties available land is being planted in hemp. Seedlings have been planted everywhere. Cost per seedling, $1 to $3.25 each.
Below workers are preparing another field near Medford with hemp. Is this bigger than cannabis? Or will it end up a bust?
We’ll get some answers on next week’s Real Estate Show.
(Hemp seedlings newly in the ground on N Phoenix Road.)
Much of the current success of our Real Estate Market can be attributed to continued low-interest rates. The chart below shows little change from the previous week’s rates.
Remember, the Summer Buying and Selling season has begun. Alice and I are always available for questions or advise.
