Young people say "yes" to Home Ownership

There is no Real Estate Show this weekend due to the KMED Auction.  We’re back on April 30 at 10 a.m.
In the meantime, have you been reading that the American Dream of home ownership is dying with the recession, foreclosure mania and so forth.   Do you believe it?
It’s every where it seems.

Time Magazine’s Barbara Kiviar,  started it off by saying in todays job market, young people may be smarter to rent rather then own.  The reason — renting makes it easier to move to another city in the pursuit of jobs quickly.

The National Association of Realtors Harris Poll found that contrary to what is being written, home ownership is alive and well in the USA among adults 18-29.   In fact the poll shows that three in four persons say owning a home provides a healthy stable environment for raising a family, and more than two thirds say owning  contributes to their long term financial goals and eight in ten said that over a period of several years, it makes more sense to own a home.

Does it hold true in Jackson County?  Statistics bear it out that young pe0ple believe in home ownership here as much as elsewhere.  The dominating factor contributing to home ownership is also a stable economy that creates wealth in a community allowing young people the ability to afford homes.  Our affordability index is at the lowest its ever been.

If we improve our economy here, we improve home ownership and that is good for everyone.
